3 DU TROIS OCTOBRE | Expérimentation multisensorielle
Le temps n’est pas aussi linéaire que nous le pensons....
A project created by neimënster and TROIS C-L – Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois
From Tuesday 31 August to Saturday 4 September
One of the major high points of contemporary dance in Luxembourg, Aerowaves Dance Festival Luxembourg will be back in September. For its 2021 edition, eight performances chosen from among some 600 pieces to be selected for the Aerowaves network’s list of prizewinners will give the pulse of young European choreographic creation. This time, neimënster and the TROIS C-L have joined forces to offer an artistic programme spread over 4 evenings to discover upcoming European dance talent.
Since the early 2000s, Yuval Pick has created more than twenty choreographical works. Their writing is based on a “matrix” or method, called Practice, which is both a philosophy of the body and a set of new experiences of the self. From piece to piece, from experimentation to research, Practice gradually takes shape as another way of dancing, inviting the dancers to another perception of their bodies and to a new state of mind released from some established habits.
Practice proposes to leave the familiar paths of dance, to find in each movement its organic and intimate depth. It invites everyone to (re)discover their own unique body identity, as well as a more liberated relationship with space and with others. With Practice, it is no longer just a question of a trajectory to follow, a posture to hold, or a technical gesture to execute ( in a way of ” self-forgetfulness “), but of setting the internal as well as the external in motion, and intentional actions, marked by subjectivity. I do not perform a dance or a movement, but, in dancing, I involve myself and create new relationships between the inside and the outside, and within my own corporeal ” within “. The action takes place both within me and outside of me, and in the in-between.

Emese Cuhorka and Csaba Molnár’s duet, MASTERWORK, is based on cultural references and whimsical movements. Through a series of scenes, the piece explores the ways in which the body can rid itself of the cultural meanings and symbols that have been imposed upon it over time. Using objects as movement-blocking costumes, the body reshapes its autonomy in a burst of functional obstructions. Our body is a unique masterpiece, created by ourselves and by our surroundings. By altering the body, Cuhorka and Molnár thus manipulate the environment and invoke the freedom to re-define.
Yuval Pick will introduce workshop participants to his method, Practice. Since the early 2000s, Yuval Pick has created more than twenty choreographic pieces. Their writing is based on a “matrix” or method, called Practice, which is both a philosophy of the body and a set of new experiences of the self. From piece to piece, from experimentation to research, Practice gradually becomes clearer as another way of dancing, inviting the dancers to another perception of their bodies and to a new state of mind free of certain habits.
Practice proposes to leave the beaten track of dance, to find in each movement its organic and intimate depth. And invites each person to (re)discover his or her singular body identity, as well as a freer relationship to space and to others. With Practice, it is no longer only a question of trajectory to follow, of posture to hold, or of technical gesture to execute (in a certain “oblivion of oneself”), but of putting into movement the internal as well as the external, and of intentional actions, marked with subjectivity. I do not execute a dance or a movement, but, by dancing, I imply myself and I create new relations between inside and outside, and within my own body. The action takes place as much in me as out of me, and in between.
