IWA-KAGAMI is a solo created and interpreted by Yuko Kominami, inspired by spending the final two weeks with her dying father. She dances a search for hope and an attempt to make the most of life until the very end. She also tackles recollection and memories, which represent an important part of each person’s identity. The creation takes its name from a pink flower that can be found in certain mountains in Japan. By choosing this title, Yuko Kominami is making reference to her father’s memory and the happiness he felt when he discovered similarities with this plant. Transmission is at the heart of this creation. Yuko Kominami honours a person who was dear to her, his precious memories, as well as everybody who is bravely facing the process of death.
