HARLEKING — Ginevra Panzetti, Enrico Ticconi

☞ This performance is labeled Aerowaves Twenty19.

HARLEKING is a demon with multiple identities. His body expression resembles that of Harlequin of the Commedia dell’Arte a sly servant moved by an insatiable hunger. HARLEKING’s mode of communication has a specific hypnotic quality in which its contents often extreme and contradictory merge to create a fluid metamorphic system wherein anything can happen yet all is blurred. It is reminiscent of the Grotesques ancient wall decorations in which monstrous figures emerge and blend in with elegant ornamental volutes. Figures which although can evoke amusement do not elicit any joy.

The work premiered in July 2018 in the frame of Open Spaces Sommer Tanz at Tanzfabrik Berlin and it has been presented among several European dance festivals and theatres.

In 2019 it has been selected by the Aerowaves Twenty19 for the Spring Forward 2019 and the New Italian Dance (NID) Platform.

  ☞ Exhibition

Who am I ? The reflection that the mirror reflects back to me? The one in other people’s eyes? Am I the one I show through frenetic stories and long-prepared posts? On the social networks, I express myself. I share my point of view. I show, I hide myself. I make myself mysterious or shameless. I take care of my image, I enhance myself, I select what I show. But who am I really? Behind all artifice, behind the make-up, the clothes, the retouched image, the angle that suits me. Wanting to correspond as much as possible to the canons, to the social norm, to what is expected of me, that is where our energy is lost, in a frantic race towards another. What the artist wanted to explore through dance and photography is the close and terribly blurred relationship between who we are and how we want to be seen. In the age of personal branding, of e-reputation, confusion has become the norm. Everyone shows an improved version of himself or herself… He of she considers it as altered. Through this series, Jonathan Couvent proposes a reflection on the question of identity: isn’t the real « me » hidden like the submerged part of the iceberg? What is visible, what we would like to show, would only be a reflection. For him, the clean part, despite its flaws, is the most interesting.

— rescheduled — BEAT, I just wish to feel you — Collective DOPE – Jenna Jalonen

This performance is labeled Aerowaves Twenty20.

Everything in life exists thanks to energy waves. These vibrations create the rhythms that drive us and make our hearts beat. We share the same pace, the same pulse, we are connected through movement and touch. But what happens when the “beat” disappears?

Here is Jenna and here is Jonas. Living in the accelerated world of social media and the possibility of instant communication through messaging and swiping from left to right. These communicational forms make us feel deeply related to others, meanwhile, we are missing the actual encounters, handshakes, hugs, and movements expressing our instinctive feelings and physical reactions.

A contemporary dancer and a b-boy. Both physically trained to master techniques and control over their bodies. Together they are decoding the skilled and disciplined body into a new way of movement and partnering. The active and the passive. The manipulator and the manipulated one. “The living-body” and “the dead-body”.

The sound artist Adrian Newgent joins them on stage, composing live soundscape in dialog with the dancers. The result is an incredibly physical, raw, yet intimate and touching duet about human relations.
