Master Class « Doing Choreography – Reflections in theory and practice » – Anne-Mareike Hess / Thomas Schaupp

The Masterclass “Doing Choreography – Reflections in theory and practice” will enable young choreographers to deepen their understanding of their own artistic practice and their interest in working with choreography. Choreographer Anne-Mareike Hess and dramaturge Thomas Schaupp will guide them through a number of themes related to artistic practice and the profession of being a choreographer, in giving them practical tools, facilitating the space to try out, encouraging a critical exchange among the participants and in nourishing discussions. Every day will consist of a theoretical and a practical part, closely related to each other and focusing on:

  • Why choreography and what are the possibilities and limits of this medium?
  • How do I contextualize myself within the art-field?
  • How do I develop an idea and a concept?
  • How do I formulate my application?
  • How do I do research?
  • How can I profit from critic and dramaturgical tools?
