TRIBUNE // EVENING 2

The TRIBUNE // Dance Your Self! festival marks the 3rd participation of the TROIS C-L – Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois in a European Capital of Culture. TRIBUNE // Dance Your Self! offers 3 evenings of performances of choreographic works by 3 Luxembourg choreographers and 3 Lithuanian choreographers, as well as workshops for amateurs and professionals.

For this second evening, Grete Smitaite and Giovanni Zazzera will each be presenting CRACKS and (di)SPERARE. In CRACKS, choreographer and performer Grete Smitaite will explore the complexity of the human being as a multiple entity. Giovanni Zazzera’s (di)SPERARE questions beliefs and their impact on individuals and society.

CRACKS – GRETE SMITAITE (LT)

“Ah! I’m walking on my fear. Darn! I see you’re here too.” CRACKS is based on the dystopia that we are alone, clear and well-defined. Yet the person on stage is unable to remain a single entity. By being fractured and multiple, this same person hides their complexity and does violence to themselves. By trying to demolish its robustness, we come face to face with ourselves, fragile and eager to forge links.

(di)SPERARE – Giovanni Zazzera (LU / IT)

“When I see, I am not always seen, when I hear, I am not necessarily heard. But when I touch, I am touched” Joël Clerget

In a society where information overtakes our daily lives and we can no longer tell the difference between true and false, beliefs are being called into question. (di)SPERARE is a fragment of the choreographic excerpt from the triptych CREDERE, which explores the intricacies of human beliefs and the vital need to believe. In (di)SPERARE we experience the contagion of two bodies that allow themselves to be transported in a dialogue of concordances and oppositions, extremes and excesses, connections and manipulations, hopes and despairs, bewitched by a simple desire to make the invisible visible.
