The TRIBUNE // Dance Your Self! festival marks the 3rd participation of the TROIS C-L – Centre de Création Chorégraphique Luxembourgeois in a European Capital of Culture. TRIBUNE // Dance Your Self! offers 3 evenings of performances of choreographic works by 3 Luxembourg choreographers and 3 Lithuanian choreographers, as well as workshops for amateurs and professionals.

IT’S NOT YOUR DREAM by Vilma Pitrinaite and WHAT DOES NOT BELONG TO US by Sarah Baltzinger will be the two pieces to mark this final evening of the festival.
In her piece, choreographer Vilma Pitrinaite explores the process of rebellion and the characteristics and conditions that embody its emergence. Sarah Baltzinger’s creation seeks to deconstruct the image of masculinity, plunging us into the intimate and radical world of two men who are discovering new forms of vulnerability and emancipation.

IT’S NOT YOUR DREAM – Vilma Pitrinaite (LT / BE)

IT’S NOT YOUR DREAM is a contemporary dance performance based on a conceptual and musical analysis of the process of rebellion and the characteristics and conditions that embody its emergence.

The performance took shape through self-isolation, experimenting with movement, looping and textual content that varied between rap, free association flow, vocal interjections and political slogans. By offering unexpected interpretations of the figure of revolt, the performance generates and shares the creative and constructive energy that resides in the dynamics of opposition and resistance. With a focus on ritual, the choreographer aims to achieve a state where her rebellious demons or goddesses act against the existing social organisation. Normality, and ritual itself, are challenged and deconstructed in the face of resignation or powerlessness, while empowering and uniting those who take part.

WHAT DOES NOT BELONG TO US – Sarah Baltzinger (LU / FR)

WHAT DOES NOT BELONG TO US explores the idea of what remains of one’s heritage. The piece invites us into the intimate and radical world of two men who discover, collide, touch, feel, repel and test each other – between vulnerability and emancipation. This creation for two virtuoso dancers radically underlines the way in which the figure of the dominant man in society has an impact on relations between men. Deconstructing the myth of the man who emotionally detaches himself in order to exist socially, culturally and intimately, WHAT DOES NOT BELONG TO US reveals the erotic, festive, secret and brutal trajectory of two men in search of their identities. This frenetic, trance-like dance is experienced as a prayer that creates a sense of inner silence.
